Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY is currently underway with renovation and construction work on their Integrated Science project. The design team is led by ENNEAD Architects, LLP (www.ennead.com) with Daniel O’ Connell’s Sons, Inc (www.oconnells.com) serving as the construction manager.

The centerpiece of the project consists of an 80,000 square foot Bridge Building which will span two pieces of campus terrain across the Fonteyn Kill and connect to Olmsted Hall (the current biology building) with a two-level skywalk. The Bridge Building will house biochemistry, chemistry, environmental science and related fields, a science visualization lab, interdisplinary robotics research lab, a phytotron and herbarium. The project also includes extensive renovations to the 22,000 sf New England and 28,000 sf Sanders Physics buildings, a partial renovation of the 26,000 sf Olmsted Hall and the demolition of the 50,000 sf Mudd Chemistry Building.

A construction animation video of the Bridge Building can be viewed at http://science.vassar.edu/science-center/tour/construction-animation.html
